When the opportunity came for Woodentots to set up home in St. Pancras Way it felt like the perfect location. A hop skip and a jump away from our Rochester Road School, it’s nestled away and offers a bright a spacious room with a tranquil fenced in garden. Following the rich mix of both Montessori and Forest School.
Natural materials inspire Woodentots Creativity, one of the features that makes Woodentots stand out from other settings, our experienced teachers scaffold children’s ideas to encourage creative exploration.
We plan to set up an art therapy room with a sand tray, helping children to express their emotions through creativity.
Both inside and outside the resources will include a rich selection of loose parts, switching from commercial plastic toys to more natural materials or bits and bobs to encourage creative thinking and free play.
Inside the classroom will be equipped with Montessori materials for the children to self select and work with. We use My Montessori Child (an online record keeping system) to observe, plan and share with you your child’s Woodentots journey. Capturing both their EYFS profile and Montessori.
All Woodentots teachers are Montessori trained, following the Woodentots ethos they are skilful in their delivery. Sensitive to children’s individual needs, nurturing and giving children the time to learn at their own pace.
Once a week the children will go to Forest School to access nature. Visit Forest School
They will be building independence, confidence, resilience, and teaching children to access their own risks. Fundamental skills perhaps to the children of today living in a world of technology. To be able to adapt to a fast moving culture and to be able to think out of the box. Life skills.
Ginny Bradley teaches mindfulness at Woodentots, learning relaxation techniques to become focused, calm and relaxed. Body and mind relaxation helps children to recover more quickly from upsets.
You are warmly welcomed to visit the setting, to make an appointment please email the school.
